Untitled
This is a song that I wrote for my daughter. It’s an extremely rough recording; one in which I’m currently working on getting re-recorded to iron out all the kinks. Warning: Towards the end, the volume cranks up quite a bit. Just some fyi. Other than letting me know about the volume and a few wrong notes, please let me know how you think it sounds. :)
You never call, you never write
Suppose that was another lie
Circumventing the questions
Holding back my heart’s ambitions
Woken by my mind’s suspicions
I can’t smile like she smiles
Knowing you’ve become her prize
Separated by many heartbeats, many miles
You’re out of my reach now
Yet I’ve managed to forgive you somehow
The nights feel a little colder
The pain a little bolder
Every glance, another wish
Buried in remembrance
Eating another slice tonight
Heartbreak pie
If every dream is filled with wishes
Take back all these dishes
Filled with hope, filled with lies
You once exposed me to
Hiding from the truth
Tears are useless; they’re far away
Cried out long ago on a rainy day
Freed from memory’s whims
Precious dreams that you’ll never take
The nights feel a little colder
The pain a little bolder
Every glance, another wish
Buried in remembrance
Eating another slice tonight
Heartbreak pie
v1
Mama, I don’t know how to say
Your little girl has changed
I know you want her back
But she won’t return the same
Mama, my anguish was too much
My mind beaten under reality’s touch
On my way back to you
Shattered; afraid to trust
Pre-Chorus
Abandoned by friends
Nothing made sense
So many screwed up pieces
Chorus
Mama, please don’t cry
For I’m coming home
Soon you’ll know why
When you hear the phone
Mama, can I see you smile
‘Cause I’m coming home
v2
I don’t know when it began
All these cumbersome emotions
Disrupting my path, my life
Gone is the stillness of my ocean
Mama, I’ll keep fighting on
Holding on through the confusion
Waking from a dream
The destruction of an illusion
Pre-Chorus
All your doubts and worries
Only increased my insecurities
I will be what I will be
Chorus
Mama, please don’t cry
For I’m coming home
Mama, soon you’ll know why
When you hear the phone
Mama, can I see you smile
‘Cause I’m almost home.
Bridge
To see that everything will be all right
To see the light in your eyes
That the darkness will end
Mama, I’ll meet you at the bend
Chorus
Mama, please don’t cry
For I’m coming home
Mama, soon you’ll know why
When you hear the phone
Mama, can I see you smile
‘Cause I’m almost home.
